Driving the future of sustainable, energy-efficient industrial heating.

JOULIA aims to develop two innovative electric-heating processes to maximise their flexibility, energy savings and RES integration into two mid-temperature manufacturing processes.

JOULIA will demonstrate induction and microwave technologies in the rubber and plastic sector for rubber vulcanisation (rubber production) and glue thermal activation (multilayer pipes production) respectively.

Both demonstrations build on previous prototypes, which will be advanced to further optimise energy efficiency and system flexibility, paving the way for near-zero-emission processes. Data collected from these demonstrations will validate JOULIA technologies at TRL 7. Additionally, digital models and process simulations will be employed to design and optimise these novel heating systems. A predictive maintenance tool will also be developed to enhance system safety and ensure key process parameters are met. Health and safety standards will be integrated into the pilots, and tailored training materials will be created to address workforce needs.
